Going to respectfully disagree here.

It does not help get customers in any way. But having an audience here and the podcast has been one of the most valuable things.

- Hiring. Many team members and often best ones have come from it

- Learning and networking. I can access almost anyone in the DTC space because I’ve already given value to the community. I’ve learned 10x more and gotten 10x more value than I feel I’ve given. Lots of “hey can we hop on a call” that would get ignored if I didn’t have an audience.

- Vendors deals and savings. JRB probably saved 7 figures a year in various ways from it. Hard to put a number on the priority treatment from it as well. When you have an audience, people will want to make you happy.

I’ve never ran an RFP in my life. Nearly every vendor we used I either met on here or knew about on here.

Oh and $42k for the profile badge is another benefit ;).

- Friends. I’ve also made some really good friends here. This is an industry that people put their all into if they are founders or just type A and it helps to have peers who you can relate to.

- Giving back. I won’t lie and say it mourners motivation but it does feel good to be in a position to help people in any way.

Sure there are more superficial reasons like ego and status but I don’t think that is most people’s primary motivation.

Just my thoughts from somebody who has benefitted massively from this place.

Are newsletters worth investing in?

I have 28k subs, mostly organic. Just started sending again. Has not grown in a year.

Worth trying to grow it? Mostly sponsorships as income and now sure how much it scales vs cost of ads.

And I hear way less about newsletters these days.

Been having some health issues past few weeks/ months that are getting worse.

Can barely make it through the day without needing to lay down. Extremely tired and feels like autoimmune. Maybe gut related.

My auto immune factors consistently showing up high on my function health blood work. Finally going to get this checked out properly.

It’s a pretty shitting feeling. Also feels like it got worse after stepping down. I’ve had some of these symptoms for a few years and have just ignored or pushed through. But it has caught up to me.

Super cliche but man not feeling good physically makes everything else harder.

I hope this is satire. If not this is a wild thing to admit.
