How to convert a Twitter video to MP4

Copy the post's link on X, paste it into the box above and press Download. PeekX lists every MP4 version of the video that X stores — typically 1080p, 720p, 360p and 270p — with the resolution and real file size. Click Save next to the one you want and the .mp4 file downloads straight from X's media servers to your device. There's no re-encoding step, so you get exactly the quality X has, with no watermark and no waiting.

How to

3 quick steps

  1. Copy the post link

Share → Copy link on X. x.com, twitter.com, mobile and fx/vx links all work.

  2. Paste and press Download

PeekX shows every MP4 version of the video with its resolution and file size.

  3. Save the MP4

Pick the quality you need. The .mp4 file saves directly to your phone or computer.

Is a Twitter video already an MP4?

Mostly, yes — and that is why PeekX doesn't need to “convert” anything. X streams videos in small chunks for its player, but it also keeps complete MP4 files (H.264 video, AAC audio) in several sizes. A good “Twitter to MP4” tool simply finds those files and hands you the one you want. Tools that upload, re-encode and then serve a video back to you are slower and can only make the quality worse.

PeekX never proxies or stores the video: your browser downloads the MP4 directly from video.twimg.com. That is faster for you and means there is no copy of the file on our servers.

Pick the right MP4 size

  • 1080p — full HD, when the creator uploaded in HD. Best for editing, presentations and big screens.
  • 720p — sharp on phones and laptops at roughly half the file size.
  • 360p / 270p — tiny files for WhatsApp, Telegram, email or slow connections.

The file size is shown next to every option, so you don't have to download first and find out later. Posts with several videos list each one, and you can save them all as a single ZIP.

Saving the MP4 on your device

iPhone and iPad

Safari saves the MP4 to the Downloads folder in the Files app. To add it to Photos, open the file, tap Share and choose Save Video.

Android

The MP4 lands in your Downloads folder and appears in Google Photos or your gallery app.

Windows, Mac and Linux

Any modern browser works. Files are named after the account, the post id and the quality, so they are easy to find and sort.

GIFs and audio

X stores GIFs as short looping MP4 files too, so the GIF downloader gives you an MP4 as well. If you only need the sound, use the Audio · MP3 row under the video qualities, or read how it works on the Twitter to MP3 page.

Respect creators

Save videos for personal use, research, or with the creator's permission. Re-uploading someone else's video may infringe their copyright. Rights holders can reach us via the copyright page.
