Twitter to MP3, just the sound.
Paste the link to a post with a video and save its audio as an MP3 file — converted right in your browser, so nothing is uploaded anywhere.

How to convert a Twitter video to MP3
Copy the post's link on X, paste it into the box above and press Download. Under the video qualities you'll find an Audio · MP3 row: pick 128 kbps (smaller) or 192 kbps (higher quality) and press MP3. Your browser downloads the smallest copy of the video straight from X's media servers, pulls out the soundtrack and encodes it as an MP3 on your own device. The file is named after the account and post id, e.g. handle-1234567890.mp3.
3 quick steps
Copy the post link
Share → Copy link on X. x.com, twitter.com, mobile and fx/vx links all work.
Paste and press Download
PeekX lists the video's MP4 qualities and an Audio · MP3 row underneath.
Save the MP3
Choose 128 or 192 kbps and press MP3. The audio is converted on your device and saved.
How the audio extraction works
Every video on X is stored as MP4 files that carry an AAC soundtrack — the same soundtrack in every quality. So PeekX fetches the smallest MP4 (to save your data), lets your browser's built-in audio engine decode the sound, and encodes it to MP3 with a small encoder that only loads when you press the button. Encoding runs in a background thread, so the page stays responsive and you see live progress.
Nothing passes through our servers: the video comes straight from video.twimg.com to your device and the MP3 is created there. We never see or store the audio.
128 or 192 kbps?
- 128 kbps — the default. Great for speech, podcasts, interviews and voice notes; about 1 MB per minute.
- 192 kbps — a little richer for music and sound design; about 1.4 MB per minute.
X itself stores audio at roughly 128 kbps AAC, so higher MP3 bitrates can't add detail that isn't there — 192 kbps simply loses less in the conversion.
What people use it for
- Listening to a long talk, Space clip or interview later, with the screen off.
- Transcribing a statement or quote for research, journalism or notes.
- Keeping a voice message, a speech or a clip of your own content as audio.
- Language learning: replaying short clips of native speakers.
When there's no MP3 option
GIFs on X are silent looping videos, so they have no audio row — use the GIF downloader instead. Some videos are uploaded without sound; PeekX tells you “This video has no sound” rather than giving you an empty file. If you want the picture as well, the Twitter to MP4 page has every video quality.
Saving the MP3 on your device
iPhone and iPad
Safari saves the MP3 to the Downloads folder in the Files app, where you can play or share it.
Android, Windows, Mac and Linux
The MP3 lands in your Downloads folder and plays in any music app or media player.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an X video to MP3?
Paste the post link into PeekX, press Download, then press MP3 in the Audio · MP3 row. The audio is converted in your browser and saved.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Your browser downloads the video directly from X's media CDN and converts it on your device. PeekX never receives the file.
What bitrate is the MP3?
128 kbps by default, or 192 kbps if you choose it. X stores audio at about 128 kbps, so both sound like the original.
Why is there no MP3 option for a GIF?
GIFs on X are silent video loops, so there is no sound to extract.
It says “This video has no sound” — why?
The creator uploaded the video without an audio track. There's nothing to convert.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari on iOS 15 or later. The MP3 saves to the Files app. Long videos take a little longer on phones.
Can I get audio from private accounts?
No. Only public posts are supported; protected accounts are never accessed.
Is Twitter to MP3 free?
Yes. No sign-up, no limits, no pop-ups and no forced waits.
