The Nitter alternative that still works.
Nitter made X readable without tracking or a login. PeekX keeps that spirit: a clean, private reader for public profiles and posts — and it accepts Nitter links as-is.
What happened to Nitter?
Nitter was an open-source front-end for Twitter that relied on guest accounts. In early 2024 X shut down guest access, and most public Nitter instances stopped working or now require their operators to supply real accounts. A few private instances survive, but they're slow and unreliable. PeekX uses X's public embed data instead, so it keeps working without accounts.

PeekX vs. Nitter
| Feature | PeekX | Nitter (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Works without an account | Yes | Few instances |
| Profiles & recent posts | Yes | If instance is up |
| Video & photo downloads | Yes, all qualities | Limited |
| Paste Nitter links | Yes | — |
| Light & dark themes | Yes | Yes |
| Full search & reply threads | No | Varies |
We're honest about the gaps: search and full reply threads need an X account, and very large accounts show highlights rather than a strict timeline.
