How PeekX works

PeekX is a small, independent tool for reading public X (formerly Twitter) content without an account. This page explains exactly where the data comes from and what its limits are.

Where the data comes from

PeekX reads X's public embed data — the same feed that powers embedded posts and timelines on news sites and blogs. It contains only content that authors made public. We never log in to X, use anyone's account, or access protected accounts.

What you see

  • Profiles: name, bio, counts and the recent public posts X includes in its embed feed (usually the latest ~20). For very large accounts X returns a set of highlights instead, and we label that clearly.
  • Posts: text, photos, videos, GIFs, link cards, the quoted post and the post it replies to.
  • Insights: posting days and hours, engagement averages and hashtags — calculated in your browser from the loaded posts.

How downloads work

Video and photo files are downloaded directly from X's media servers (video.twimg.com and pbs.twimg.com) to your device. They never pass through or get stored on our servers. Images you create with “Save as image” are drawn in your browser.

Freshness and caching

To stay fast and polite to X, we cache profiles for up to 30 minutes and posts for up to 10 minutes. Deleted posts disappear from PeekX once the cache expires.

Privacy

We don't require an account and we don't record which profiles or posts you look up. Your recent searches are kept only in your browser's local storage and can be cleared at any time. See the privacy policy.
