Open X links in PeekX, with one click.
The PeekX bookmarklet is a tiny bookmark that, when you click it on an x.com or twitter.com page, opens the same profile or post in PeekX — past the login wall, with downloads built in.

What does the PeekX bookmarklet do?
A bookmarklet is a bookmark that runs a few lines of code instead of opening a fixed address. The PeekX bookmarklet reads the address of the page you are on. If it is an X profile or post — say x.com/NASA/status/123 — it opens peekx.app/NASA/status/123 instead, so you see the same content without logging in and can save its media. On any other page it simply opens the PeekX home page. It is not a browser extension: it can't read your other tabs, it has no permissions and it only runs when you click it.
3 quick steps
Show your bookmarks bar
Chrome, Edge, Brave: Ctrl+Shift+B (⌘+Shift+B on Mac). Firefox: View → Toolbars → Bookmarks Toolbar. Safari: View → Show Favorites Bar.
Drag the button there
Drag the Open in PeekX button below onto the bookmarks bar. Or copy the code and paste it as a new bookmark's URL.
Click it on any X page
On an x.com or twitter.com profile or post, click the bookmark — the same page opens in PeekX.
Install the bookmarklet
javascript:(function(){var b='https://peekx.app',l=location,h=l.hostname.replace(/^(www|mobile|m)\./,''),m=l.pathname.match(/^\/([A-Za-z0-9_]{1,15})(\/status\/\d+)?/),r=/^(home|explore|search|i|settings|notifications|messages|compose|login|signup|hashtag|intent)$/i;l.href=b+'/'+(/^(x|twitter)\.com$/.test(h)&&m&&!r.test(m[1])?m[1]+(m[2]||'')+'/':'');})()If dragging doesn't work in your browser, bookmark any page, edit that bookmark, and replace its URL with the code above (use the Copy code button). Name it something short like “PeekX”.
Desktop: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Brave
All desktop browsers support bookmarklets. Make the bookmarks bar visible, drag the button onto it, and you're done. Next time an x.com link asks you to log in, click Open in PeekX in the bar. Profile links open the profile, post links open the post, and extra parts of the address — like /photo/1 or tracking parameters such as ?s=20 — are dropped automatically.
iPhone and iPad
Safari bookmark
Tap Share → Add Bookmark on any page, save it, then open Bookmarks, tap Edit, choose the new bookmark and paste the code into the address field. On an X page, open your bookmarks and tap it.
iOS Shortcuts (works from the X app too)
Bookmarklets can't run inside the X app, but a Shortcut can. In the Shortcuts app create a new shortcut, turn on Show in Share Sheet and accept URLs. Add a Replace Text action that replaces (x|twitter)\.com (with “Regular Expression” on) with peekx.app, then an Open URLs action. Now, in the X app, tap Share → Share via… → your shortcut, and the post opens in PeekX.
Android
Chrome on Android supports bookmarklets too: save a bookmark with the code as its URL, then on an X page type its name into the address bar and pick it from the suggestions. Or just use the domain trick below.
No bookmarklet? Swap the domain
Every PeekX page mirrors X's own paths. In any x.com or twitter.com link, replace the domain with peekx.app and keep the rest — the same profile or post opens here. The bookmarklet just does that for you.
Is it safe?
Yes. The code is short and fully visible above: it reads the current address and opens a PeekX address. It sends nothing anywhere else, stores nothing and does not touch your X session or cookies. PeekX is an independent tool and is not affiliated with X Corp.
Frequently asked questions
What is a bookmarklet?
A bookmark that runs a small piece of JavaScript when clicked. The PeekX bookmarklet opens the current X profile or post in PeekX.
Is it a browser extension?
No. It has no permissions, can't read other tabs and only runs when you click it. You can delete it like any bookmark.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, as a Safari bookmark whose URL is the bookmarklet code. To use it from the X app, set up the iOS Shortcut described on this page.
What happens on a page that isn't on X?
It simply opens the PeekX home page, where you can type a username or paste a link.
Does it work with private accounts?
No. PeekX only shows public profiles and posts; protected accounts are never accessed.
