Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson

Wrapped up Day 3 at #IAC2026 with more great conversations with our international partners, supporting U.S. industry as they build partnerships around the world, and sharing where America is headed in space.

It’s been a busy few days, and time well spent. We have ambitious goals and strong partners. Now it’s time to get to work.

America will establish a permanent presence on the moon. 🚀🌕

With clear direction from @POTUS, NASA returning American astronauts to the lunar surface, building humanity’s first outpost on another world, and our commercial partners like @SpaceX and @BlueOrigin are playing a critical role.

The first Moon Base mission launches this December, followed by near-monthly cadence of uncrewed lunar landings beginning in 2027.

“When you form something like the Artemis Accords, you try to find things that actually put it into practice. That’s what @NASAAdmin has been talking about, opening up the moon base to all 76 nations and those who will sign in the future.” ⬇️

IAC 2026初日のPrologueに続いて行われたのが、「One-to-One with Heads of Space Agencies」。

NASA(アメリカ合衆国)、ESA(ヨーロッパ)、CNSA(中国)、JAXA(日本)、ISRO(インド)、CSA(カナダ)という世界の主要宇宙機関のトップが順番に登壇し、それぞれの宇宙政策や今後のミッション、国際協力についてインタビュー形式で語るセッションです。

・Matt Anderson：NASA 副長官
・Josef Aschbacher：ESA
CNSA Chief Engineer
・V. Narayanan：ISRO
CSA Acting President

「This is a team sport.」

「Space is clearly a priority of the United States.」

At the ongoing @IAC2026Antalya in Antalya, Rwanda Space Agency CEO @gtwagirayezu is engaging with global space leaders to advance Rwanda’s space program.

Yesterday, he joined the 3rd IAF Global Space Leaders Summit, themed “The New Space Era: Global Challenges, Strategic Opportunities and Responsible Governance,” discussing partnerships and priorities shaping the future of space. He highlighted the importance of using space technology and international collaboration to address challenges here on Earth.

He also met with @NASA ’s Deputy Administrator, Matt Anderson, building on Rwanda’s commitment to the Artemis Accords, which it signed in 2022, and with @spacegovuk to strengthen partnerships and explore new areas of collaboration. #IAC2026

Another full day at #IAC2026 with our international and industry partners.

I’m encouraged by their commitment to help us reach the Moon and go beyond, and their willingness to put in the work.

Now it’s on all of us to turn those plans into missions that fly.

The Artemis Accords community keeps growing, and so do our opportunities to collaborate.

Today’s annual Artemis Accords Principals Meeting brought together space agency heads from over 40 partner nations to discuss how we move from shared principles to shared programs.

Strong partnerships will be essential to everything we do next on the Moon and beyond. 🚀

A strong start to #IAC2026 in Türkiye. 🚀

From the Heads of Agency stage to meetings with our partners from Peru, the United Kingdom, and Germany, day one was all about trust, teamwork & training together to accomplish our great objectives in space.

We have a busy week ahead, let’s get after it.

Great to kick off #IAC2026 with the global space community in Antalya!

@NASA has ambitious missions ahead, and partnerships will be essential to delivering on them.

Proud to lead our delegation this week as we strengthen those relationships and keep pushing toward the Moon, Mars, and the Golden Age of Exploration.

The work aboard the space station is helping us prepare for what comes next.

Crew-13 will help test technologies and study how to grow plants in space, taking lessons from low Earth orbit toward the Moon and Mars.

America knows what it takes to win a space race. We’ve done it before, and we’re going to do it again. 🇺🇸

Always a great day when I get to return to my alma mater!

Thank you to the United States Air Force Academy for hosting members of the U.S. Space Academy Commission this week. Your commitment to developing leaders of character for our Air Force and Space Force is truly world-class.

Lots to learn from this incredible institution as we work to build the next generation of American space leaders 🇺🇸🚀

America’s service academies have spent generations preparing leaders to meet the challenges of their time. Now, we’re working to build the United States Space Academy, a @NASA-led institution for the challenges ahead in space.

Our U.S. Space Academy roadshow kicked off at Annapolis, where we got a great look at the leadership, technical training, and culture that make these institutions so important.

A big thank you to @NavalAcademy for being outstanding hosts!

Next up: Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, West Point, and Coast Guard Academy. Let’s get after it!

Albania is officially the 73rd nation to sign the Artemis Accords.

Minister @HoxhaFer and Ambassador Ervin Bushati of @AlEmbassyUSA joined us at NASA Headquarters today for the signing.

The relationship between our nations goes back more than a century. Today, we’re extending it into space as Albania joins like-minded nations committed to peaceful, responsible, and transparent exploration.

Proud to celebrate 79 years of the @usairforce today. 🇺🇸

It was the privilege of a lifetime to serve 24 years alongside some of the finest Airmen in the world. To those serving today, those who came before us, and the families who make that service possible, thank you.

Welcome to the Artemis Accords, Djibouti!

It was a pleasure welcoming @AmbDoualeh to @NASA Headquarters as Djibouti became the 72nd nation to sign the Artemis Accords.

Our coalition of like-minded nations continues to grow, and so do the opportunities to work together as we return to the Moon and prepare for Mars. We’re glad to have Djibouti with us.

We said we were going to move fast. We meant it.

Less than two weeks after @POTUS launched the U.S. Space Academy effort, the Commission has met, the RFI is out, and states now have a chance to help shape where this legacy institution will call home.

nasa.gov/news-release/n…

Proud to be partnering with you, @SecWar.

The mission is clear, and our team is assembled. Now we execute 🇺🇸

Today, we held the first working session of the Presidential Commission charged with developing the framework for this new institution, bringing together @SecWar, @SecAFOfficial, and leaders from @NASA, @WHOMB, @WHOSTP47, @WhiteHouse, and across the Administration.

Over the next 120 days, we have a lot to figure out in our report to the President: governance, curriculum, service pathways, location, implementation, and more.

That work starts now. We have an extraordinary group around the table, a clear mandate from @POTUS, and a responsibility to build this the right way to invest in America’s future in space.
