People should remember that.

I think I just had the most ridiculous flight of my life.

I wake up to someone screaming:

“WHAT ARE YOU, PSYCHOTIC?
I specifically told the stewardess to wake me up. NOT YOU.
How dare you wake me up when there isn’t even food on the table?!”

She keeps going. Absolutely furious.

Then, completely out of nowhere, she starts crying.

For TEN MINUTES.

Twenty minutes later, her food arrives.

She’s completely happy again.

I’m still trying to understand what the fuck just happened.

How to spot a techbro

How to overcome your bias in investing.

I recently got asked how I deal with my own bias when I invest. My model is pretty simple.

I think about people in a reductionist way. A human is a process. Inputs go in, they run through an operating system, decisions come out. That operating system was written by our environment: money, status, the people around us. Most of our bias is installed long before we sit down with a founder.

And a lot of what we want isn’t even ours. Girard called it mimetic desire: we want things because others want them. In investing, that might be the most expensive bias there is. A top fund is in is not a thesis.

So I treat myself like any other system. Input: I journal every decision. Pre-deal, deal, post-deal. First thoughts, gut feeling, the latent stuff I’d rather not admit, the hard facts.

Process: everything becomes data. A model turns each entry into a structured decision record and matches it against every decision I’ve made before. Not just what I wrote, but how I wrote it: where I sound certain, where I hedge, whether my conviction is mine or borrowed.

Output: flags. You’ve been here three times. Same pattern. Heres how those went.

But patterns arent enough. Correlation tells you what happens together. I want to know why. So Im building a causal model of my own operating system. I change one input, like scoring a deal before I know who else is in, and measure what changes. Then I can ask the real question: would I have done this deal if nobody else wanted it? And it compounds. Every decision makes the model sharper. A sharper model makes the next decision better. Better decisions produce better data. It’s an RSI loop: recursive self-improvement, with me inside the system.

Next step: make it agentic.

The primitive brain was built for survival, not for pricing a seed round. The goal isnt to fix it. Its to extend it into something that remembers everything, sees patterns and reasons about causes

Most people try to remove their bias. I’d rather model it. You can’t delete bias. And it can also be very advantageous.
