Did you know that everyday posts can give away more than you intend? That innocent photo of your afternoon snack could show where you work, where you bank, your home street name or your daily routine; all piece-by-piece clues that cybercriminals use for identity theft or targeted scams.

Every time you post, remember to keep your personal life personal. Share the memory but not the data.

Today’s #BeCyberSmart launch event focused on underscoring that cyberhygiene requires commitment at every level. Building a secure and resilient digital ecosystem in our national cyberspace is a shared responsibility.

Thank you to all who joined us today, and to a safer and more collaborative digital future for Rwanda.

“The more we bring things online, the more we increase the attack surface.

So if you are the one bringing citizens’ data online, if you are the one bringing services online, you need to take the responsibility to protect their data and be able to operate with security in mind.“

- Patrick Ndjientcheu, Chief Product and Technology Officer @IremboGov , on safeguarding citizens’ data and operations.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. As we kick off #CybersecurityMonth with the @RwandaICT, @Cybersec_Rwanda and key stakeholders, let’s stay alert, informed and safe online.
Be Aware. Be Cautious. Be Fraud-Free.

“This month, we are bringing sectors together to discuss how to improve cyber resilience. Securing our cyberspace is a collective responsibility, and every organization has a role to play”

Mr. David Kanamugire, NCSA CEO during his opening remarks at the #TekanaOnline Be Cybersmart launch event.

“Building a secure system is not only the responsibility of one person. You depend on people, you share integration, you share an environment, you share responsibilities”

- Lionel Ngendakuriyo, @RSSB_Rwanda Chief Technology and Innovation Officer on shared cybersecurity responsibility, at the #BeCybersmart launch event.

“At @RISARwanda, we have observed that cybersecurity capacity building and awareness should be conducted at all tiers.

Technical teams need to have awareness of the threats and how to respond and management needs to buy-in, so that what the technical teams need is understood and given value.”

- Innocent Mudenge, @RISARwanda Chief Operations and Strategy Officer, on building cybersecurity awareness and support across all organizational levels

“The true measure of this campaign will not be the amount of people reached but people’s behaviors after it.
Let’s make cybersecurity a habit, not a yearly event.”

- Hon. Minister Ingabire Paula’s remarks at the #BeCyberSmart launch event.

The #cyberhub is open for the launch of the 2026 #TekanaOnline ‘Be CyberSmart’ campaign. We are joined by cybersecurity experts, industry leaders and tech enthisiasts for an insightful conversation on how to build cybersecurity resilience in our organizations. Stay tuned!
