On this week's AI safety debate, here are Brad’s views:
> No one in AI is saying full steam ahead, disregard safety. More time and energy has gone into safety ahead of this technology than any prior cycle in 25 years
> The guardrails already exist: lab safety systems, national security coordination, transparency reporting, and a frontier model framework that scrutinizes models before public release
> There is risk in the alternative. We shut down 67 nuclear reactors over fears that never materialized. China is building 100 fission reactors

Michael Kaufman@KaufmanMic · Sep 9Today, Covenant is emerging from stealth and introducing Anthem: a heavy-payload deep precision strike capability designed for mass production, with deliveries beginning in the thousands in 2027.
We’ve raised $250 million, flown Anthem in more than 200 tests, and secured approximately $150 million in orders, including contracts with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and key international allies.
We’re building Anthem at our 105,000-square-foot production facility in Dallas, alongside factories in Germany and Israel.
Covenant is backed by @a16z, @foundersfund, @Lux_Capital, @lightspeedvp, @8vc, @aleph, and @AltimeterCap.
Deep precision strike is the biggest gap in the arsenal of the West, and we spent the last two years building Anthem to fill it.
Now we deliver at scale.

We’re excited to lead the $38M seed round in @scifinai, founded by @mohitaron, the founder of Nutanix and Cohesity.
Mohit has spent decades building and scaling category-defining enterprise companies. Along the way, he saw a problem that has only become more important in the age of AI: companies have more data than ever, but leaders still struggle to get the trusted context they need to make decisions.
SciFin is building to close this “Context Gap,” starting with revenue organizations and bringing fragmented information across systems, conversations, and workflows into a trusted view of what is actually happening across the business.
As Altimeter Partner Apoorv Agrawal (@apoorv03) puts it: "AI models are the brains, and the brains have gotten really good. Enterprise Context is the eyes, ears, and limbs. And we believe solving the Context Gap will make enterprises truly rely on AI.”
Congratulations to Mohit and the entire SciFin team. We’re proud to be partners from the start. 💥

Eight months after Erik Kriessmann (@ekriessmann) led @Castelion's Series B, Altimeter is pumped to deepen our commitment and continue our partnership with Bryon (@hargsb), Sean, Andrew, and the entire Castelion team as they announce their $1B Series C at a $13B valuation.
Castelion is building with a rare combination of speed, technical ambition, and manufacturing scale. In just a few years, the team has taken Blackbeard from a clean-sheet design to flight-tested hardware and a program of record, secured more than $500M in U.S. military contracts, and has begun building what is currently the largest dedicated hypersonic missile manufacturing facility in the country.
We believe Castelion is building one of the most important defense companies of this generation and demonstrating what is possible when American engineering and manufacturing move with urgency.
Designed in California. Built in New Mexico. Supplied by businesses across America.

We’re excited to see @attestable come out of stealth today.
Led by partner @JaminBall, Altimeter co-led Attestable’s seed round alongside @TLV_Partners. We believe they’re building a crucial new layer of the AI stack: verifiable integrity.
As AI systems make more consequential decisions and agents take on longer, multi-step workloads, an existential question emerges: How can you prove a model did what it was supposed to do?
Attestable uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify that the right model ran on the right inputs and called the right tools.
The technical breakthroughs behind this are remarkable. ZK proofs once carried ~1,000,000x compute overhead, making them impractical for AI. Attestable has brought that down by orders of magnitude, making ZK for AI deployable in the real world.
From securing model weights to proving open models are backdoor-free to giving agents verifiable identity, Attestable is building the integrity layer for an AI-powered world.
As co-founder @Yogi_Brn puts it: “Every token should be a proven token.”
