Captain Paul Watson (delphi.co/captain-paul-w…) has been fighting whalers for more than fifty years.

He was one of the early members of Greenpeace, then spent decades captaining Sea Shepherd ships, getting between harpoons and whales. A lot of people know him from Whale Wars. In 2024 he was arrested in Greenland on a warrant from Japan and spent five months in jail before Denmark let him go.

We asked his Delphi why he’s dedicated his life to whales. His answer is above.

@CaptPaulWatson's Delphi is live. Go ask him anything.

In 2011, Stéphane Bancel (delphi.ai/bancel) left his job running bioMérieux, a French diagnostics giant, to lead a startup with no products and one unproven idea: that mRNA could teach the body to make its own medicine.

For nearly a decade, Moderna didn't have a single approved product. He kept betting on it anyway.

This year, Moderna and Merck reported something cancer researchers have chased for a century: a personalized cancer vaccine that succeeded in a Phase 3 trial. Each dose is designed from the patient's own tumor. In more than 1,100 melanoma patients, it lowered the chance of the cancer coming back compared with the standard treatment alone.

If you've ever been told your idea is a long shot, ask the man who spent fifteen years proving his wasn't.

Nick Norwitz was on the most traditional path in medicine.

He graduated valedictorian at Dartmouth, earned a PhD in metabolism at Oxford, then an MD from Harvard. Along the way, a serious illness changed how he thought about all of it.

So he started testing the standard advice, often on himself, and publishing what he found. Today he's a researcher and science communicator on a mission to make metabolic health mainstream.

Have a question about your health? Ask his Delphi.

🚨Very Exciting Announcement!🚨

We’re officially releasing My Digital Mind at StayCurious Metabolism Substack.

🔗staycuriousmetabolism.substack.com/cc/ask-nick

But let me give you a little context.

Over the past year, StayCurious Metabolism has grown from its infancy to become a top bestseller on Substack and, by far, the most often #1 Top Rising Science newsletter on the platform. In fact, we’ve spent more time at #1 on the Rising Science leaderboard in 2026 than all other science newsletters combined.

🫵 And that’s all thanks to you, your enthusiasm, and your curiosity.

But as we’ve scaled, one of the challenges I’ve faced as a creator is the limitation of my own time. As much as I’d love to respond to every comment, answer every question, and correspond with each of you personally, there simply aren’t enough hours in the day.

So, we’ve been working on something special.

We’ve partnered with Delphi @withdelphi to create a digital version of my mind, trained on my entire body of work.

That includes >300 letters, >500 videos, dozes of papers, posts, and thousands of hours of podcast content.

In fact, it's trained on >4.5 million words of my original work, which is more than All the Harry Potter Books and all the Lord of the Rings Trilogy combined times three! And it's growing every day!

This isn’t just a random chatbot.

It’s a digital facsimile of my brain, built around my scientific interests, research, explanations, and perspectives, that you can interact with at your leisure.

Want to explore a topic from one of my letters? Ask a follow-up question about a video? Dig deeper into the science of metabolism, nutrition, or longevity?

Now you can.

And unlike me, my digital mind doesn’t need to sleep!

📢 Built With You, for You

We first launched this tool to our founding members about a month ago, giving them early access to help us beta-test the experience.

The feedback has been phenomenal.

“I used Delphi like I would Claude and ChatGPT. I thought Delphi had better depth in terms of mechanism of action. It really helped me understand a nagging shoulder injury that I have. I like the idea that the outputs are tied to Nick’s knowledge base. Feels more nuanced.”

“I get trustworthy information and perspectives highly relevant to my health and well being that I can’t get anywhere else.”

“The interaction during the commentary was what I would expect from a knowledgeable and caring clinician.”

And this is just the beginning.

As my body of work grows, so will the knowledge and functionality of this tool. And the more you use it, the more feedback we’ll have to continue refining and improving the experience.

My hope is that it becomes an increasingly useful resource for exploring the science, revisiting ideas, and satisfying your curiosity whenever inspiration strikes.

🫂 The Human Touch Isn’t Going Anywhere

Let me emphasize one thing: StayCurious Metabolism will never lose its human touch.

I’ll still be here, writing letters, engaging in the comments, and sharing the science that excites me.

But as our community continues to grow, I want to find new ways to make this experience more personal, not less.

And that’s what my digital mind is all about.

It’s a way to give you greater access to my body of work, help you explore the questions that matter to you, and make our growing library of scientific content more interactive and accessible.

🙌 Give It a Whirl!

Premium members (net cost less than 67 cents per 3,000 word deep dive) get unlimited access. Free subscribers get a free trial.

I look forward to continuing to learn, explore, and grow together. #StayCurious

Jim Kwik (@jimkwik ) is one of the world's top brain coaches.

He has spent 30 years teaching elite performers how to learn faster, remember more, and focus deeper, from main-stage TED speakers to Hollywood actors, and wrote Limitless, the playbook for upgrading your brain.

Most people will never get the chance to work with him. But they can talk to his Delphi. He hopes you'll skip the speed-reading questions and ask the one he cares about most: who are you becoming?

Imagine two people using AI every day for ten years. One becomes much better at thinking. The other can barely think without it.

I’m already seeing hints of the second outcome: people producing results they can’t explain or defend. It feels like the beginning of Idiocracy.

I asked @jimkwik how to avoid becoming that second person. He’s one of the leading experts in memory and accelerated learning, and has spent three decades coaching CEOs, elite athletes, Hollywood actors, and TED speakers on how to use their minds better.

Jim shared the process he uses to keep himself thinking while using AI. It’s called BUILD:

B - Brainstorm what you already know.
U - Understand the real problem.
I - Imagine three possible solutions.
L - Leverage AI to expose your blind spots.
D - Decide what to do.

AI comes fourth. It has your thinking to challenge, and you still have to make the call.

On this week’s episode of The Library of Minds, I spoke with Limitless Daily author Jim Kwik about why learning still matters when answers are instant.

In 2011, a kid from Glens Falls, New York, turned his own name into a verb.

At BYU, @jimmerfredette led the nation in scoring and was named college basketball's National Player of the Year, and "getting Jimmered" became slang for being scored on by him. The NBA drafted him 10th. In China, he once scored 75 in a game.

In 2025 he retired. Seventeen months later he told his wife he still had something left. He came back and won MVP in his first tournament.

One of the strangest parts of becoming a founder is realizing your team can’t tell which of your ideas are ideas - and which are instructions.

You think you’re thinking out loud. They think the strategy changed again.

@AlisaCohn, named the world’s #1 startup coach by Thinkers50, put it simply: founders generate ideas, teams hear priorities.

At some point, protecting the team means keeping some ideas to yourself, and being painfully clear when one actually becomes the priority.

Was going to Stanford worth it? Depends who you ask.

Balaji Srinivasan (@balajis)
Earned his PhD at Stanford and taught there before becoming Coinbase's CTO and a general partner at a16z. Worth it for him, he says, but he wouldn't tell you to go today: the pipeline to Silicon Valley is breaking.

Ask him where he'd go instead → delphi.ai/balajis

Celeste Amadon (@Celesteamadon)
Met her co-founder at Admit Weekend, then dropped out to build Known, an AI dating app that's raised nearly $10 million. She says she couldn't have built it anywhere else: the people were the point, not the academics.

Ask her when it's worth leaving → delphi.ai/celeste-amadon

Dr. Elisa Song (@healthykidsl737)
trained at Stanford, NYU, and UCSF and has spent 25 years as an integrative pediatrician, with a national bestseller on kids' health. Her answer: the credential was worth it, but her most valuable insights came from sitting with families, not a classroom.

Ask her what the degree didn't teach her → delphi.ai/drelisasong

Val Whiting
Won two national championships playing basketball at Stanford and left as the conference's all-time leading scorer. She says the game gave her skill, but the real gift was the standard: everything there ran at championship level.

Ask her what to look for in a school → delphi.ai/val-whiting

In 2003, a 19-year-old co-created a piece of software and gave it away for free. It was WordPress, and today it powers over 40% of the web.

Matt Mullenweg (@photomatt) turned that idea into Automattic, the company behind WordPress, Tumblr, and WooCommerce, now past $500M in revenue. Along the way he's backed 100+ startups and spent two decades defending the open web.

Julie Zhuo (@joulee) is one of the most influential design leaders in tech and the co-founder of Sundial.

She joined Facebook as its first intern and spent 14 years becoming VP of Product Design, shaping products used by billions. Along the way she wrote The Making of a Manager, the book a generation of new managers learned from.

You can chat with her digital mind here: delphi.ai/juliezhuo

Dara@daraladje · Sep 3

Julie Zhuo spent 14 years at Facebook and eventually ran design for the Facebook app.

Then she started her own company and realized she couldn't copy Facebook.

Her explanation was pretty simple: “I’m not Mark.”

@joulee thinks companies have personalities just like people do. Their strengths and weaknesses often come from the same traits, which means copying another great company’s operating system can actually make you worse.

I think about this a lot. We spend so much time studying how Stripe hires, how Airbnb designs, how Meta ships, how Jobs presented...

The useful question probably isn't “what do the best companies do?”

It's “what are we unusually good at, and what kind of company should exist around that?”

.@travisk on the little details that helped Uber beat Lyft:

“I needed to subsidize rides to gain market share. When I gain market share there's a network effect because if I'm bigger, then my system is more efficient and if I'm more efficient than them, they have to subsidize more than I do to compete with me.

This is why Lyft is smaller than Uber because we were better at this and people don't really know that's what it takes.

But how do you get efficiency edge?

Efficiency edge starts when somebody even downloads the app and signs up.

If it's easier to sign up on one versus another you have an efficiency edge.

If it's easier to call a vehicle and get it to you without problems, you have an efficiency edge because you'll have less support.

If the cars are moving to where the demand is because the driver app has good ways to point drivers to the right place that means you have shorter pickup time, that’s another efficiency edge.

And efficiency edge means you get bigger faster.”

Everyone's first time speaking in public is nerve-wracking.

The people who are good at it now were bad at it once too. They just did it over and over until it got easier. You haven't had that time yet, but you can ask people who have.
