Announcing @a16z's investment in TypeSafe!
In a world of Big Token, Jev is a different kind of intelligence — built to make software smarter and empower developers.
So psyched to work with this team 🚀
(side note: @CompleteSkeptic has the best t-shirt collection I've seen 😂)

Wake up babe, the Pope is subtweeting Anthropic again
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex · Oct 8Intelligence must draw on memory. The mind must not simply compile data — as an algorithm now does more quickly than we can — but recall lived experiences, which contain depths of meaning that only the human soul can recognize, and connect more deeply with the goodness of these experiences. Everything that is good begins “with the Spirit” and thus possesses a breath, a dynamism and a sense of communion that, once experienced, are engraved upon the heart. vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

a16z is officially in Japan, led by Hitoshi Yoshida as Head of Japan, with the opening of our Japan office.
It was an honor welcoming Governor Koike at the opening earlier today. Japan combines world-class industrial capabilities with growing innovation in AI, cybersecurity, robotics, and defense. By bringing our portfolio companies and the Japanese ecosystem together, we aim to accelerate Japan’s AI-native economy and strengthen the ties between Silicon Valley and Japan.
As the former President of Microsoft Japan and Hewlett-Packard Japan, Hitoshi brings decades of technology leadership and deep relationships across business, industry, and government. We’re thrilled to have him lead our efforts in Japan and look forward to doing great work in partnership with the Japanese technology community.

Holy shit we have meme search on X now!
Grok @bot's new X scan feature is insanely good if you give it an image or a still from a video.
It can find the origin of a meme, most viral tweets, or even specific genres of post (e.g. "AI-related tweets using this").

Wow I asked Grok Bot to scan X for people saying mean shit about me and it was incredibly comprehensive.
I hadn’t even seen most of these! Finally we get working X search 😂

Had a chance to test the new Tavus model that set the Internet aflame.
I did not expect the avatar to so effectively roast my job ☠️
Impressive progress in real-time interactive video - this is without any cuts or speeding up clips! Some of the mannerisms were shockingly real.

Gave Opus 5.5 an Airbnb listing and asked it to generate a UGC video.
I'm impressed with the result!
It pulled the photos and used them to generate video with Seedance 2.5. Voice is ElevenLabs, and the historical footage was downloaded from the Internet + upscaled with Topaz.

Olivia Moore@omooretweets · Oct 5🚨 The @a16z Consumer AI Top 100 is back - but this time, it's 150!
We added revenue data from @yipitdata to track how consumers are spending not just time, but money, on AI.
The result? A story of heavy concentration among AI's power users. Our takeaways 👇

Gave Codex a few hours and an API key and got this incredible music video about Threads users.
It had Astra write the lyrics, then used Fal to make the media (Suno for the song and MiniMax H3 for the video).
Some brutal lines in here, who says LLMs aren't funny? ☠️
