57 metro stations being shut, trains being cancelled, internet shutdown, and deployment of forces are not precautionary measures. It’s state action based on credible intelligence inputs.
You are told that these are harmless students. They are not. Students don’t pelt stones at the police, harass media personnel, or indulge in arson. All of which happened during the previous protest, earlier this year.
They are being commanded by a party which has a 40 per cent vote share in Delhi, even in defeat. They are fighting to retain power in another state, or else it’s an existential crisis for them.
There is a precedent for this. This was attempted in late 2020, and it was successful. Middlemen masquerading as innocent farmers illegally occupied a national highway for months. Everyone was a spectator, from the SC to the Government.
I guess that they want to attempt a blockade again, this time far closer to the Parliament, and one that goes on for a few months, at least until the Uttar Pradesh elections. The government did not pick up hints from the GT Road, running from Punjab to Delhi, then, but they were ready in February 2024, and they are ready now.
Congress would encourage this, since it gives them a reason to stall the functioning of both the Houses. Regional parties get the perception battle victory, especially in UP and Punjab. Low-IQ, gullible guinea pigs will consume whatever crap they are served by the Meta algorithm.
Violence, blockade, and holding the state hostage. That’s the trick they want to deploy. Beyond the pretence on studios, they realise the BJP’s political capital is at its peak, so this is the only way to get them out of power, or at least they believe this. Congress is hoping to gain nationally from the perception, while its evil offset focuses on Delhi.
It’s officially the protest season now, and two days of state-mandated shutdown is better than weeks of blockade, given the festival season ahead of us. It’s not ideal, but on some days, you have to be honest about the excesses of democracy. This is one of those days.
57 metro stations, if you map them, tell you a story. About how the crowd is being gathered, from where, and for what purpose.
The writing is on the wall. The media refused to read it in 2021 and 2024, and they won’t read it in 2026, but the state must. Even the SC realises some bit of the threat, going by the proceedings today.
We can’t have Delhi being held hostage again. No. Full support to Delhi Police.
