Droid

If I scheduled a @FactoryAI meetup in Victoria or Vancouver, would anyone in the community be interested in attending? I'm thinking some time between the 15th and 23rd. Alternatively, the 26th.

If anyone is interested please let me know what dates and times work for you. If there's anyone in the area interested, I'll handle all of the booking around the event. I'd love to see what everyone in BC is building!

It seems like everyone is sleeping on @FactoryAI @droid Subscription and how much value it offers compared to OpenCode Go and other agent subscriptions.
OC Go for $10 gives you approximately $60 usage while droid $20 sub gets you almost around $200 usage on standard and additional $20 or so in core quota. and they have full frontier lab models + open source via @FireworksAI_HQ and @baseten
I cannot recommend this enough!
P.S. Please don't lower our usage if more people sub 😅

Day 1 notes on the @droid Max plan ($200).

@FactoryAI sent a free voucher, so I walked every screen in the UI. I have not written code with it yet

Droid Core is the new piece for me. It is a pool of open-weight models that Factory hosts and serves (GLM, MiniMax, Kimi, and others). Standard usage on your plan is used first. After that, Droid Core has its own rate limits and costs nothing extra. Factory positions it as a fast, low-cost baseline that still handles most development tasks, with compute in the US.

Image generation is built in. A GPT image model is the default. I have only seen a dedicated image model like this in Grok, Codex, and Antigravity. Claude does not have one. Small plus.

you can set a default token compaction limit. You can also override that limit per model. I have not noticed this control in other agent tools

the subagent section is rich. You set autonomy (inherit, off, low, medium, high), pick models for light / medium / heavy work, set reasoning effort, and lock tools and prompts on custom droids

One small con,

The autonomy control cycles Off → Low → Medium → High. I need three clicks to reach High. If I want Medium and land on High by mistake, I need two more clicks to come back. silly complaint. my ADHD notices it😅

Controls look solid so far. Code comes next.

Announcing our new and improved Analytics, giving engineering leaders transparency into consumption, model efficiency, and adoption, broken down by model and by user across every session in the organization.

Custom Automations are now GA in Factory.

Describe a recurring workflow, pick a schedule or event trigger, and Droid runs it to the intended result. You choose the model, the machine, and Connectors for each automation.

i had no idea how much i was really using my agents

so i built Token Ledger

sits in your menu bar and shows your usage across every agent, every plan, every model

First-day review of Droid by @FactoryAI: mission mode, the CLI, how models behave inside it, and what I'd love to see improved. x.com/i/article/2105…

I built my own voice dictation app for Mac with @droid from @FactoryAI, and I use it every single day.

It's genuinely the fastest I've tried, quicker than Wispr Flow or Willow Voice, and it's free for everyone.

Try it and tell me how it is for FREE:
