Being willing to work on data - actually looking at data, caring about the long tail of weird data, etc. - has always has been super rewarding. With compute efficiency being coupled to amount AND quality of data, this work is so much more appreciated now compared to years ago.

AMIE has reached a significant research milestone. The first-of-its-kind study of a patient-facing conversational diagnostic tool in a real-world clinical setting is now in @TheLancet, marking @Google’s first publication in one of the world’s highest-impact medical journals.

Our medical research system, AMIE, is the first patient-facing conversational diagnostic tool of its kind to be studied prospectively in a real-world clinical setting.

In a study, published today in @TheLancet, we found that when patients chatted with AMIE before an in-person appointment, the interaction built their confidence and helped them organize their thoughts. And physicians who reviewed the information from the patient conversation got more time back to focus on collaborative care and shared decision-making instead of digging through data.

Trust in medical AI hasn't been earned yet.
But it potentially can be with randomized trials conducted in real world medicine

Today @TheLancet published our AMIE study with @BIDMC_Medicine, the first prospective study of patient-facing conversational diagnostics in a real clinic.

AMIE is a research system people can chat with before doctors appointments. Testing AMIE outside the lab with real urgent care patients showed how technology can help gather medical histories safely. Clinicians reported that the summaries helped them prepare for visits in 75% of cases and influenced their approach to care in more than half. AMIE’s differential diagnoses also matched the doctors’ final diagnoses 90% of the time giving clinicians more time to focus on patient care.

Our SynthID technology lets you easily verify if an image, video, or audio file is AI-generated, and today we’re expanding access.

Now anyone can go to synthid.com to check files for a SynthID watermark — whether they were generated by us or industry partners like @OpenAI, @nvidia, Kakao, and, coming soon, @Apple.

To date, we’ve watermarked 180 billion images and videos and more than 240,000 years of audio content, regularly handling 1 million verification requests daily.

This new portal joins our built-in verification features already live in Search, @GeminiApp, and @googlechrome.

Four months ago, we expanded SynthID beyond @Google . Today you no longer need to check multiple portals to verify AI-generated content. Everything is now unified under synthid.com. This collaboration shows how we work together for transparency and responsible AI.

I’m pleased to announce SynthID Detector is now available as a universal verification platform.

It’s an important step forward in helping people easily identify AI-generated content across the internet.

Starting today, anyone can check whether images, audio, or video were created using models from @Google or our partners across the industry, including @OpenAI, @Nvidia, and @Kakao.

Ever since our research teams at @GoogleDeepMind developed our first models, we understood that tracing the origin of digital content would become a central pillar of trust in the AI era.

Almost 4 years ago, we started working in SynthID when most people said that generated media is still easy to identify. Times changed massively and SynthID is becoming an important signal for content provenance, now available to everyone!

Great to see more companies moving forward, applying AI to address health issues beyond admin. I hope that we can eventually go beyond specific conditions (acne in this case) to actually leverage the promise that general AI systems hold.
