On my way back from Europe, I had the great pleasure of visiting Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi, a dear friend, mentor, and highly respected visionary leader in neurology in Türkiye 🇹🇷. Professor Murat Terzi currently serves as President of the Turkish Neurological Society, Full Professor of Neurology, and Head of the Department of Neurology at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine in Samsun, Türkiye 🇹🇷.

Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Murat Terzi has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to mentoring, training, inspiring, and engaging young people in neurology and neuroscience across Türkiye and beyond. I have personally had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions at major and top international scientific gatherings in Finland, Switzerland, South Korea, the United States, and across Europe.

Many thanks to Professor Murat Terzi for his great hospitality and for showing me his outstanding research work and ongoing clinical trials in the different advanced laboratories within his Department of Neurology and Neuroscience at the university hospital. Many thanks also to everyone I met there for their warm welcome and hospitality.

It was truly wonderful to benefit once again from his invaluable mentorship, experience, and dedication to advancing neurology and neuroscience. I am also deeply grateful to Professor Murat Terzi for our inspiring discussions about future projects and collaborations that could strengthen neurological education, research, and care.

Finally, I warmly invite all neurologists, neuroscientists, researchers, trainees, neurology residents, and other interested colleagues from Türkiye and around the world to submit their abstracts, attend, and present their work at the internationally attended 62nd National Neurology Congress, organized by the Turkish Neurological Society from 12–16 December 2026 at the Royal Seginus Hotel in Lara, Antalya, Türkiye.

For more information about the 62nd National Neurology Congress, please visit the official website of the Turkish Neurological Society and follow them on social media platforms @NOROLOJI1992

#INTERVIEW: As I highlighted in my recent interview with University World News, yes indeed, where you begin should not determine how far you can go. Scientific excellence is built on curiosity, perseverance, integrity, collaboration, and commitment, not on where you come from.

Many thanks to journalist Clemence Manyukwe and the University World News @uniworldnews team for inviting me to this interview and for highlighting the 2026 H. Richard Tyler Award that I was honored to receive from the American Academy of Neurology @AANmember in Chicago, USA.

Geneva, Switzerland 🇨🇭: Honoured and humbled to spend time at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research), the world’s leading laboratory for particle physics research. @CERN

In 2018, at my very young age, someone gifted me a CERN flag. Back then, I dreamed that one day I would spend time at this extraordinary scientific institution. Today, in 2026, that dream has become a reality.

Spending time at CERN, one of the world’s greatest scientific institutions, has been a truly inspiring experience, offering a glimpse into groundbreaking scientific discoveries and the spirit of international collaboration that advances knowledge for the benefit of humanity.

My sincere gratitude to Switzerland 🇨🇭, and many thanks to the Swiss people for their exceptional hospitality, kindness, and warmth. This has been a truly unforgettable, enriching, and inspiring experience.

MERCI BEAUCOUP POUR TOUT 🇨🇭❤️

FORBES AFRICA 30 UNDER 30 CLASS OF 2023: I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected as one of the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 Class of 2023 in Medicine & Research.

I owe a debt of gratitude to everyone who supported me along the way, especially my colleagues at Oli Health Magazine Organization (OHMO) @OliHealthOrg, who believed in my work and encouraged me to push the boundaries of what is possible.

The selection process for Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 is highly competitive and rigorous, with nominees progressing through many stages and vetting before being selected. The Forbes Africa Team and independent judges demonstrated exceptional professionalism and integrity in carefully selecting the top 30 young innovators in Africa for the categories of Business, Technology, Creatives, Sport, and Science/Health. That means 5 categories, with a maximum of 6 young people selected in each category, making a total of 30 young people. It was a long and grueling process, and I am deeply honored to be among the most ingenious innovators under the age of 30 in Africa.

We all had no idea who was going to make it to the final list of Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 class of 2023 until being informed less than 12 hours before the official announcement by Forbes Africa and asked to keep the embargo until the official announcement.

I still can't believe how far I have come and how much my hard work and dedication have paid off. This achievement is a testament to the support of my family, mentors, friends, and colleagues who have believed in me every step of the way.

I want to thank God for this incredible opportunity and for the blessings he has bestowed upon me. I cannot express how honored and privileged I feel to be selected as one of the brightest young innovators leading a new era of change in Africa.

This recognition has been a reminder to me that with hard work, perseverance, dedication, and the right mindset, nothing is impossible.

Once again, I want to express my profound appreciation to Forbes Africa, my team at OHMO, and everyone who supported me on this journey. I will continue to strive for excellence and make a meaningful difference in the world. @DrOnyeaka

Honored to have an autographed copy of Neurology for the Non-Neurologist, signed by both editors, Professor Steven L. Lewis and Professor Aaron L. Berkowitz (@AaronLBerkowitz )

This highly informative book provides a practical, comprehensive, and up-to-date guide for non-neurologists to evaluate, diagnose, and manage common neurological conditions in clinical settings. It is an especially important and valuable resource for low- and middle-income countries, where there remains a significant shortage of specialist neurologists.

Professor Steven L. Lewis, one of the editors of this book, is my mentor and advisor. He is the current President of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) and a globally recognized leader in neurology education. He is also the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology, the official CME publication of the American Academy of Neurology, and has held major leadership roles with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the US Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. In 2019, he received the A.B. Baker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Neurologic Education from the American Academy of Neurology, and in 2023, he received the American Neurological Association Award for Excellence in Education.

Professor Aaron L. Berkowitz is a leading voice in neurology education and global health. He serves as a Professor of Neurology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Health and Policy Advisor in Neurology to Partners In Health (PIH), and Senior Specialist Consultant to Doctors Without Borders. He previously served as Director of the Global Neurology Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.

I am very happy to have finished reading this informative book, and I strongly recommend it to clinicians, students, researchers, and avid readers interested in neurology, global health, and medical education.

Our 8th session for the 2026 cohort of the OHMO Global Research Fellowship Program was held on 10th May 2026 and focused on “Grant Writing.”

We are sincerely grateful to Professor Olumide A. Odeyemi, ARM(F), PhD from Australia 🇦🇺for delivering a highly informative, practical, valuable, and insightful training session to OHMO fellows.

The session provided excellent guidance on grant writing, including how to identify suitable funding opportunities, develop strong grant proposals, define clear project objectives, prepare realistic budgets, strengthen professional track records, demonstrate innovation and impact, and avoid common mistakes that often lead to grant proposal rejection.

Thank you very much Professor Olumide Odeyemi, for your continued support, mentorship, and contribution to empowering young researchers through OHMO.

At @OliHealthOrg Oli Health Magazine Organization (OHMO), we remain committed to equipping young researchers globally with the skills, discipline, training, and mentorship needed to conduct high-quality scientific research and contribute meaningfully to global health and academia.
