British Ambassador to Ukraine 🇬🇧🇺🇦

At least 15 dead in Russian glide bomb attacks on Zaporizhzhia. Rescuers continue to search the rubble for survivors. Kyiv was the target of a ballistic missile and drone attacks today. But Ukrainians stay strong. 🇺🇦 🇬🇧

The world has not forgotten Ukraine’s stolen children, unlawfully detained civilians or prisoners of war.

We are strengthening international support to bring people home, help communities rebuild, and ensure those responsible for these crimes are held to account.

Good discussion with Ukraine’s Agriculture Minister @VysotskyiTaras.

We talked about the impact of Russia’s attacks on the Black Sea and how partners can support Ukraine’s grain exports and ensure global food security in these challenging times.

Pleased to welcome the Foreign Secretary to Ukraine and accompany him to Pryluky.

A moving but important day as he heard from Ukrainians whose lives have been overturned by Russia’s attacks, and announced sanctions against Russia and an additional winter support package.

Glad to welcome my colleague and friend @Ed_Miliband on his first official visit to Ukraine.

Alongside President @ZelenskyyUA, we came to Pryluky, where yesterday a Russian missile struck a residential building, killing 22 people, including five children.

Ed saw firsthand the devastating consequences of Russia's attacks on Ukrainian civilians.

We held our talks at a local hospital. I briefed my British colleague on the latest battlefield developments, Russia's intensifying terror against our cities and communities, and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

We discussed the steps needed to strengthen Ukraine's position and increase pressure on Moscow to end its aggression.

We paid particular attention to immobilised Russian assets and the need to use them fully and make Russia pay for the destruction it has caused.

We also discussed tightening sanctions, including against Russia's shadow fleet. I welcomed assurances from our British partners that Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman will remain on the UK sanctions list, as well as the UK's work on further sanctions against Russia.

Another important topic was Ukraine's readiness for winter. With Russia deliberately targeting our energy infrastructure, we discussed additional British assistance to strengthen our energy resilience, protect critical facilities, and keep Ukrainian homes heated and powered.

We separately addressed Black Sea security. Russian attacks on civilian vessels and maritime infrastructure continue to threaten freedom of navigation and global food security. We discussed international efforts to restore freedom of navigation and protect maritime trade.

I thanked the United Kingdom for its comprehensive support, which now exceeds £25 billion, including £16 billion in military assistance. We greatly value the UK's commitment to provide £3 billion in military support annually under our 100-Year Partnership Agreement.

Today also marks six years since we signed our Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership in London. Since then, our relationship has reached a new level, reinforced by the historic 100-Year Partnership Agreement our leaders signed in Kyiv last year.

We also launched the second meeting of the Political Pillar of the Ukraine–UK Strategic Partnership Dialogue and agreed to continue expert-level discussions in Kyiv.

Grateful to Ed and the United Kingdom for their leadership, friendship, and determination to stand with Ukraine. Our partnership is focused on the decisions that matter most right now.

Today, together with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, we paid tribute to those who were killed in the Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky. The attack claimed 22 lives, including five children. Another 54 people were injured.

I spoke with those affected. We also received reports on the consequences of the attack. More than 100 residential buildings were damaged, as were educational institutions, kindergartens, shops, businesses, and the infrastructure that sustains normal life in the city.

We hear the people – there are issues with shelters and housing in the city. I instructed the head of the regional military administration to promptly help those who, unfortunately, have nowhere to go. And it is important that those affected ultimately receive new homes. Also, as soon as the security situation allows, residents of the destroyed building must be given access to their damaged apartments. The Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine must see to it.

I am grateful to Ed Miliband for coming today to support our people. When our partners are literally standing alongside Ukrainians, it truly matters. Thank you to everyone helping our people on the ground.

🇺🇦🇬🇧🕯️ Zelensky and British Foreign Secretary visited the site of a house attack in Pryluky, where 22 people, including 5 children, were killed

Horrified by Russia’s barbaric strike on public buses in Kramatorsk, killing at least 30 people going about their daily lives.

My deepest condolences to the victims' families.

The UK stands firmly with Ukraine. 🇬🇧🇺🇦

A horrific night for Ukraine. Russia again used ballistic missiles to target energy as winter nears. Civilians, including children, were killed in attacks across the country. We stand with Ukraine and continue supporting efforts to protect its skies.

Proud to stand with Ukraine as it signs new instructions for investigating CRSV.

Developed with UK support and informed by survivors’ voices, they will help ensure more survivor-centred, trauma-informed path to justice and strengthen accountability for Russia’s crimes.
🇬🇧🇺🇦

Good to swap notes with @SergiyKyslytsya and discuss our Autumn and Winter bilateral and international agendas. Much to do together! 🇬🇧🇺🇦

Proud to open an exhibition on Op Interflex at @warmuseum_ua with thanks to @DefenceHQ and @GeneralStaffUA
Interflex is the operation by which, since 2022, the UK and 13 nations have trained more than 67,000 Ukrainians, helping UA to defend its people, sovereignty and future.🇬🇧🇺🇦

A lump in the throat moment hearing this song by a daughter calling for her father Ihor Shysko to be released from captivity as a POW. This will tug at the heart strings of any father. 1/4

Some thoughts on a fantastic visit to Khmelnytsky

Ukraine’s winter preparedness remains a top priority. Good to meet Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s power grid operator, to discuss winter preparations and where the UK can further support efforts to keep homes warm and lights on. GBUA

Pleased to host an exceptional cohort of Ukrainian John Smith Trust Fellows today.

Looking forward to seeing the impact they continue to make to strengthen UK-Ukraine relations and #100YearPartnership. 🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧

Great to catch up with Maxim Timchenko of @DTEK_Ukraine, the largest energy company in 🇺🇦. Good to hear his views on how the international community can best support Ukraine’s winter resilience plans along with his insights into @FCShakhtar prospects in the Champions League. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

Excellent focused first meeting with new Prime Minister @KoretskyiUA.
Looking forward to working together as we deepen 🇬🇧 🇺🇦 cooperation through the #100YearPartnership

Rich discussion at @ksfopenukraine with my French colleague Brice Roquefeuil and @Yatsenyuk_AP and on how the world should respond to Russia's escalation of hybrid aggression and what we can do to support Ukraine. A shared sense of purpose among all the speakers.

Kyiv and other cities have been under Russian missile and drone attack all night.
The air raid alert is still continuing as smoke fills the sky and people head to work.
The UK is providing £100m for PURL initiative to help Ukraine procure interceptors, including PAC-3 for Patriot
