I won’t lie, I felt VERY vindicated today.

I watched President Kagame spend a surprising amount of time trying to understand what exactly Scovia Mutesi had done wrong by questioning something Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe had said.

The answer seemed to be: she should have just believed him. Our President wasn’t buying that. And neither should we.

My biggest takeaway from today press conference? Ask. Question. Challenge.

What if some of the ‘drunkards’ we punish AREN'T entirely to blame?

Rwanda has cracked down on adulterated alcohol and Police say assault cases have since dropped by almost HALF.

That raises an uncomfortable question:

-If people were drinking alcohol that wasn’t what they thought it was, how responsible were they for what happened afterwards?

-And if the manufacturers AND regulators failed them…who really carries the blame?

I make the case that we might have to let some of the ‘drunkards’ out. It’s only fair. 👇
