Belated NEW BOOK post! 📕🥳 Co-authored with the brilliant @ProfGinaB, Student London looks at 200 years of life in the capital through the eyes of students. Links to OA version, discounted (beautiful) hard copies, book tour blog, and even a 'making of' documentary below...

Happened to be in Greece recently when I found out that I've been promoted to Associate Professor of Contemporary History at UCL. Celebrated by imbibing some ancient history, and many cocktails 🥳

It was a great pleasure to visit Brighton College yesterday to give this talk and to receive such a range of wonderful questions from students in the audience. Lovely to finally meet you, @ADBHist – thanks for the invite!

Coming to the end of the working week here in Australia and I've been more productive in the last five days than over the past couple of months in Cardiff/London combined. Working in a different time zone has its benefits.
This Sydney winter weather is awful, though... 😎

It was a strange experience watching the election results roll in over the course of Friday morning here in Australia. Anyway – here's how some of the Aussie papers are covering events happening in the mother country

Thanks to everyone who made last night's launch of The Conservative Party in Wales, 1945–1997 so special (especially @felicityxevans, @RWynJones, @DavidMelding, @SKurtzCWSP, @DrDavidJeffery).

Final call for my book launch tomorrow evening, with registration link ⤵️. Really looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Thank you, @ShiptonMartin, for a kind review of my book – and a detailed engagement with one of the more eye-catching elements of it, namely the role Enoch Powell played in the devolution process.

One week until I launch my new book on the Conservatives in Wales. All welcome! Please do come along if you're interested.

BOOK LAUNCH! 🥳 My book on the Conservative Party in Wales will be launched on the evening of Tuesday 14th May, in Cardiff Bay. Everyone welcome, but please sign up using the link below 👇. I think it's going to be a great evening.

It’s been lovely to receive such warm reactions to my book. I wanted to say some thank yous in return. I have a long list because I’ve been working on this project, on and off, for ten years. I'll just say a few here – many more people get a shout out in the book’s preface.

There's a very kind endorsement on the back cover from Prof Bale himself!

📘🎉New book 🎉📘

The Conservative Party in Wales, 1945–1997 is now out!

To whet people's appetites for my forthcoming book – due to be published imminently, I promise – I had a lovely and long chat with @felicityxevans and @jamswilliams85 for Walescast. Diolch/thanks both!
I'm on from 17 minutes.

Sadly, this is fake news. It's not out for a few days (watch this space). But what auspicious company to find oneself in...

Ran the Ruthin 10k yesterday with a lovely group of friends – and came second! 🥈😃 A challenging course, which I managed in 39.09. A couple of years ago, I'd never have believed a sub-40 10k was possible. I'm still chuffed today. And tired!

Last plug for this evening's online talk. Includes a lot of amazing images – and some not quite so amazing analysis...

Looking forward to giving this online talk next week. Do come along if you're interested!

A shameless boast, but it's unlikely to ever happen again so why not: first finisher at Newport parkrun this morning 🎉🥇 (18.38). And Pebble was first dog. Congrats Pebbs.
Oh, and happy birthday @BlaxlandTom

Chalked up my 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣th parkrun this morning with a sneaky 🥇 at Treviso, near Venice.
