In a world of conflict and increasing instability we need the International Criminal Court as ever before. Iceland deeply regrets the decision by the US to impose sanctions against the ICC. Iceland remains steadfast in supporting this vital institution.

Canada is home to the largest Icelandic community outside Iceland, reflecting generations of friendship between our peoples. As Arctic nations and NATO Allies, our security and prosperity are closely connected.

In Reykjavík, @thorgkatrin and I discussed defence, trade and investment, and the rights of women and girls. We also agreed to establish a geothermal network bringing together industry, Indigenous partners and governments to advance clean energy in the North.

Great pleasure to meet with my Canadian colleague, @AnitaAnandMP, in Reykjavík today. We discussed bilateral ties, Arctic issues and trade, as well as global issues, including the need for continued support for Ukraine. 🇮🇸 and 🇨🇦 share values and our friendship is strong.

Iceland-US relations are strong. Very pleased to have had the opportunity, along with 🇮🇸 Prime Minister @KristrunFrosta, to pay host to @SecRubio in Reykjavík today & talk about our bilateral relationship but also global issues, including Russia´s illegal war in Ukraine.

Visited the U.S. Navy’s P8-patrol in Iceland.

For 75 years, the U.S.-Iceland Defense Agreement has served as the foundation of our security partnership.

Grateful for our servicemembers who keep the Arctic secure while solving the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Departing Iceland, a founding NATO member and steadfast ally that has committed to reaching its defense targets to ensure Arctic security.

Proof of its unwavering commitment to our alliance.

Excellent talks with @SecRubio at Höfði House, the building that housed the Reagan & Gorbachev Summit 40 years ago. We discussed how to strengthen even further security & defense cooperation in the North Atlantic & Arctic, as well as deepen economic cooperation between 🇮🇸 & 🇺🇸.

We talked about new opportunities for energy and economic collaboration both areas where our two countries can continue to build a strong and prosperous future together.
