What does each group want? At their best, voters say the Conservatives ‘deliver economic stability’ - the top answer for current voters (34 per cent) and the Tory-Curious Left (29). The Tory-Curious Right also stress hard work and success (30 per cent) and tough decisions (28).

On policy, the two groups differ but not irreconcilably. Net zero is the big divide: 76 per cent of the Tory-Curious Left support it, against 16 per cent of the Right. Most tax and spend policies are popular with both; leaving the ECHR is net positive with both
