🚨Three years after October 7th🚨, Jewish faculty and staff at UC Davis reserved and paid for campus space. UC Davis promised the reservation would stand.
Masked protesters took it over, chanting “We love Hamas.”
Jews deserve the same protection as everyone else. Write Chancellor Gary May at chancellor@ucdavis.edu and ask UC Davis to keep its promise.

In memory of the victims of October 7, I’m sharing my new SSRN article. יהי זכרם ברוך
The Gaza genocide accusation against Israel is a lie and the accusers’ own words prove they knew it.
Hamas committed genocide, and their words and actions prove that too. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

Hope for peace. Hope for belonging. Hope for coexistence. Hope for safety in Israel...and the Diaspora.

Thank you to Hillel at UCLA and UCLA's Jewish student groups for a solemn, loving October 7 vigil that closed with Hatikvah, "The Hope."

Yesterday, on Oct 7, masked demonstrators at UCLA chanted "Long live the intifada."
What does that actually mean❓ And "from the river to the sea"? "From Gaza to Beirut"?
We paused the footage and explained each one. It's under 3 minutes. Watch before you shrug it off.

Three years. We still say their names.
Today, check on a Jewish colleague. Ask a Jewish student how they're really doing. Isolation grows in silence, and one message can break it.

Feeling isolated on campus because you support Israel's right to exist? You are not alone, and you do not have to navigate this alone.

As October 7 approaches, Jewish students, faculty and staff may be carrying more than those around them realize. Strong faculty and staff communities create something students need too: mentors, advocates, institutional memory and people willing to stand beside them.

What does the civil rights case against UCLA mean for Jewish faculty beyond one campus?

JFRG Executive Director Matt Davidson shares the focus of our recent New York event with Andy Gould: a conversation about the case and its relevance to professors and Jewish communities across North America.

Watch for an overview of the discussion and why it matters to our community.

What’s happening at UCLA doesn’t stop at UCLA.

JFRG New York brought together Jewish faculty, staff, and community members to discuss civil rights on campus, lessons from UCLA, and building stronger faculty networks nationwide.

JFRG in the Los Angeles Times.

As UCLA continues to navigate debate over academic freedom and its response to a controversial 9/11 symposium, the Los Angeles Times highlighted remarks from Professor Harvey K. Rosenbaum, who spoke for the Jewish Faculty Resilience Group during public comment at the UC Regents meeting.

Rosenbaum emphasized an important distinction: academic freedom protects the right to expression, but protection does not constitute endorsement.

We are proud to see JFRG faculty voices contributing to consequential conversations about academic freedom, antisemitism, and our institutions' responsibilities.

The tents came down. The ideas did not.

Encampments were the visible symptom. Normalization is the deeper problem.

What universities teach people to tolerate today can become workplace culture tomorrow.

The ideas graduate too.

When concerns about antisemitism are evaluated only by stated intent, the content—and the experience of Jewish students and faculty—can be dismissed.

Speaking before the University of California Board of Regents, Professor Harvey Rosenbaum of the UCLA School of Medicine and the Jewish Faculty Resilience Group addressed a reported incident of antisemitic indoctrination during a humanistic-reflections class held on Yom Kippur.

He urged UCLA to examine what was communicated, how it affected Jewish members of the campus community, and whether it met the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism.

That warning remains timely. UCLA School of Law recently held a symposium on September 11 featuring a defense attorney for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused architect of the 9/11 attacks—again raising questions about institutional judgment, context, and the messages universities convey through the platforms they provide.

Intent matters. But so do content, impact, and accountability.

What starts on campus does not stay on campus.

Universities produce tomorrow’s journalists, executives, physicians, lawyers, and cultural leaders.

The ideas graduate, too.

We stand with Prof. @yudapearl, a @JFRGofficial advisor, and amplify his statement. 9/11 and 10/7 demand solemnity. @UCLAchancellor Frenk has made clear: center co-sponsorship ≠ UCLA endorsement. Bottom line: Universities must uphold institutional integrity, accountability, and basic human decency. #AcademicIntegrity #JFRG #UCLA

Dear Readers:

I am happy to learn that UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk has joined me in rebuking @UCLA_LAW for choreographing an offensive symposium on September 11:
latimes.com/california/sto…

Unfortunately, The Los Angeles Times did not present my quote in its entirety, thereby significantly altering its context and intent. To correct for any distortion, I am providing readers with the full text of my statement:
----------------start of statement ----
I stand ashamed of my university and, especially, the five centers within the UCLA School of Law sponsoring this disturbing symposium.

September 11 and October 7 are two painful events that should be used to commemorate the victims of those attacks -- Americans and Israelis.

Platforming organizations like CAIR that have been sympathetic to the attackers is distasteful, if not despicable.

To my esteemed colleagues at these five centers: Please find different dates to engage us with your political sophistry. Let us spend these two days in serene prayers with our dear ones — find yourselves different dates.
-------------------------end of statement ---
Please help me correct this misquote by reposting my original statement to your readers.
