After a long deployment, HMS Dragon has sailed from Gibraltar and is finally heading for Portsmouth.

From a successful visit to Malta, to completing a first-of-class de-ammunition serial in Gib — now it’s time for home, family and Pompey.

The Dragon is coming home. #pompeyrevs

Whilst alongside Valletta, we were delighted to hold a reception, hosted by CO DRGN and British High Commissioner Vic Busby, bringing together senior government, defence and diplomatic representatives to strengthen the enduring UK-Malta partnership.

Sea state: enthusiastic. 🌊

Despite the lively monsoon seas, HMS Dragon is pressing on with operations in the Middle East.

A bit of pitching and rolling is all part of life at sea - and the mission continues.

Action wildcat, Action Wildcat. Our eyes in the sky!

While operating at sea, our Wildcat helicopter can see further ahead where we cannot, ensuring the Ship is sailing into safety.

Nearest petrol station? We don’t go to it— it comes to us ⛽️

Replenishment at Sea (RAS) keeps us fuelled and operational, without leaving our station.

We remember the courage of those who sailed into danger at dawn.

From the deck of HMS Dragon we honour their sacrifice and enduring legacy, securing freedom through duty, unity and resolve.

We remember ex @RoyalNavy ORP DRAGON still laying off Normandy.

“Action Wildcat, Action Wildcat”

Securing the skies when every second counts.

Dragon’s embarked Wildcat - Inferno - is an essential capability supporting air surveillance, intelligence gathering and protecting the ship from air and surface threats.

📢 Hands to Harbour Stations, Hands to Harbour Stations 📢

Arriving alongside is a whole ship evolution, requiring all Departments to work together to bring the Ship alongside safely.

After a brief stop in Duqm, Oman, Dragon is back out at sea conducting operations ⚓️

We have now transited through the Suez Canal and headed into the Middle East region.

We are currently deployed ahead of a potential multinational Strait of Hormuz mission to secure the waterway and safeguard freedom of navigation.

“Prepare for action, Prepare for action…”

As we continue to strengthen our readiness, our Ops Room and Ships Company tested their abilities to react to an airborne threat.

After months of hard work post-refit, HMS DRAGON’s first foreign port visit took us to Amsterdam 🇳🇱 — a welcome chance for the crew to rest, recharge and enjoy some well-deserved downtime. #RoyalNavy #HMSDragon

A busy day alongside as we embarked a Wildcat helicopter from @815NAS. It was great to welcome our Fleet Air Arm colleagues on board.

What's the story in Tobermory? #HMSDRAGON wants to know.
