We will deliver cheaper energy. We will secure our energy. We will Get Britain Drilling. And we’ll launch a British Nuclear Revival and lead the world.

This is the team with the ideas, the passion and the determination to set us on the right path.

I’m proud to lead them.

With Kemi leading our Party, and soon our country, we will Get Britain Working.

Our Chief Mouser Larry is back at Downing Street following a minor operation, and is recovering well.

He is feline much better but taking things one paw at a time.

We are grateful to the vets for their outstanding care.

This, from DfT annual report, shows capital spending on roads, rail and HS2.

Spending on HS2 is, year after year, higher than on the whole of the rest of the rail network, and nearly twice total spending on national highways.

Just think what could have been done instead.

Today we've rejected proposals for additional services on the West Coast Main Line after our assessment found they would likely increase delays and cancelled trains for passengers.

We've also approved one existing Avanti service to carry passengers.

HMS Queen Elizabeth arrived at Belfast Cruise Ship Terminal yesterday for 5-day logistic stop and regional visit.

Astern of her is the Belfast Dry Dock (with cruise ship under repair) operated by H&W @Navantia_UK - one of the few docks in the UK large enough to potentially accommodate the QEC carriers.

“We had to find a way and we did. Looking back, we were the luckiest people in the world; there was no choice but to be pioneers.” —Margaret Hamilton

Rest in peace, Margaret. Your trailblazing work leading the development of the on-board flight software for the Apollo spacecraft will forever be remembered. 🫡

What’s a #BlackStart? Well it’s NOT an outage, power cut, loss of supply, localised fault, blown fuse, shutdown, trip, fault. It’s a TOTAL shutdown of the power system, with the desynchronisation of all power stations. It’s DEAD 😵 We have NEVER had one. So relax folks ☺️ [1/20]

I want to be honest about how we’ve got to a place where British billpayers are paying some of the highest energy costs in Europe.

Over the past 40 years, we’ve given up control of our necessities, outsourced our essentials and privatised the basics. Water, transport, housing. And of course, energy.

Now the public are paying the price. We haven’t invested in the infrastructure we need. Conflict overseas has pushed up energy costs and it’s hurting our businesses and families.

That’s why we need to take back greater control of our energy system.

This week, I announced Great British Grid, which will speed up connections and push down bills.

We’re also giving mayors, local leaders and communities a stronger role. With funding for People’s Power projects, communities will be able to build solar panels on libraries and town halls, hydro schemes in rivers or publicly owned windfarms on local land.

But it’s not just energy we need stronger public control over. It’s also water, housing, transport and care.

So we’re repealing the ban on public ownership of water companies. We’re building more council homes than this country has seen since the end of World War Two.

We’re reforming the leasehold system so families aren’t squeezed for every penny. And we’re opening up home ownership for first time buyers who can’t rely on the bank of mum and dad.

This week I also announced my determination to introduce a National Care Service, to put people above profit and to give pensioners peace of mind.

Together, we’ll rewire the country from top to bottom so that it works for all people in all places.

That is the only way to put Britain back on the right path. It’s the only way to put power back in people’s hands. And it’s the only way we will bring hope again.

UK 30-year gilt yields have just smashed through 6%, hitting 6.065%. The 10-year is at 5.53%.

A month ago I said 6% was the "danger zone". Buckle up!

This is the bond market putting a price on Britain’s fiscal credibility. The real pain has only just begun.

🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced a new publicly-owned "Great British Grid"

It will "maximise and speed up the rollout of renewables across the UK"

Usual pattern

✅Energy companies see low wind period
✅ Gas gens game the market declare themselves unavailable
✅NESO issues margin notice
✅Fossil lobby whips up hysteria and talks of blackouts
✅ Gas generators suddenly available
✅Gas generators make a fortune
✅ We pay

🚨 BREAKING: Donald Trump responds to the suspected bomb plot at RAF Fairford

"Working with Britain, it was an amazing job. We had them under investigation. They were looking to do big damage to our fort, and working with the British worked out great and we got them"

Britain's first reservoir for 30 years has been delayed another five years.

Now, Heathrow 3rd runway delayed until 2039

Why? The regulatory purgatory that imprisons UK growth - and will imprison Burnham unless he reforms.
