reflecting on 1920s images of people working on massive generators for the electrification of the modern world makes me realize that the past was wildly futuristic too

it's interesting to imagine that my head would only need to be 1.5cm larger (in radius) to have a 2x larger neocortex and if I could reaquire the growth rate of a baby this would only take 2 years

i asked LLMs to have fun, write down what happened, then rate who had the most fun. the newer models seem to have less fun! many models played word games, but opus 4.6 won over and over by imagining brief worlds made up of contradictions living inside falling water droplets 🥺

10 million humanoid robots is enough physical labor to build New York City in 5 months and the first Optimus factory will manufacture that many robots in a single year
The Humanoid Hub@TheHumanoidHub · Oct 2The Optimus factory construction at Giga Texas is progressing rapidly.
It'll be a massive 7 million sq ft facility with a targeted capacity of 10 million Optimus per year. Initial production is planned to begin in 2027.
The Fremont facility, planned for 1 million per year, is expected to begin production this year.

when i was a teen i was a little emo, and i think it was because i felt like i didnt control anything important about my life. looking back with knowledge now, there were a nearly infinite number of higher agency paths i could have taken. my life was always more free than i knew

"Ghost in the Shell" is one of the most influential movies ever made about AI & cybernetics. For its 30th anniversary lotsa theaters did 4K showings, but no big theater played it in SF! We're changing that by holding a giant watch party next week. Join us! (link below)

if we double the industrial production in outer-space every 12 months starting from some initial seed in 2030 then we hit Kardashev I by 2064 and Kardashev II by 2098. If we take 24 months for each doubling, we still hit Kardashev I by 2096 and Kardashev II by 2165

CTO ROBOTICS Media@ctorobotics · Sep 1211 years of humanoid robotics in one video. 🤖
In 2015, humanoid robots were still struggling with basic tasks like walking, climbing stairs and recovering from falls during the DARPA Robotics Challenge.
Fast-forward to 2026, and humanoids are running, jumping, boxing, playing football, handling industrial tasks and operating in real-world environments. The World Humanoid Robot Games featured 2,056 robots across 51 events, including practical tasks in factories, hotels and homes.
The progress is obvious. But the real question is not how impressive they look in a demo.
What will humanoid robots be capable of in 2036? 👀

this is your chance to get your ideas on the list that the whole Midjourney community will vote on! and it's always really helpful for me just to meditate on all the things we should be doing 🙏
Midjourney@midjourney · Sep 9Each year we do a call to our community asking what we should prioritize over next 12 months. The time is now! What do you think is most important for us to do and think about? After collecting ideas we'll do a big rating event to rank everything. Thanks <3

i wish AI services let me pay more to seamlessly spin up powerful VMs to run my work on - i mean like high core count CPU instances, GPU instances, etc
