AssemblyAI

Universal-3.6 Pro is now live on Bolna (YC F25).

Entity-aware endpointing so callers finish their account number before the agent jumps in. 32 languages, including Hindi, Urdu and Marathi.

Free for all Bolna users 9 to 16 October.

@AssemblyAI Universal-3.6 Pro is now live on @bolna_dev!

It is fine-tuned on human agent conversations, and that shows in the details your agents act on. Entity-aware endpointing helps the agent avoid cutting off a caller halfway through an account number.

Accuracy has improved, and it now supports 32 languages, including Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and more. Phone numbers, addresses, emails and codes are recognised and formatted according to how your agents need them.

PS: It’s free for all Bolna users from 9th to 16th of October. We’re excited to have you try it, so let us know how your agents perform.

Who knew a nostalgic childhood toy could become a voice agent? 🧸🎤

For SF Tech Week, we brought the voice Al community together to give a Furby a voice upgrade using AssemblyAl's Voice Agent API.

From swear jar Furbies to karaoke sing-along Furbies, we loved seeing all the creative (and hilarious) ideas come to life!

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, built something fun, and took home their very own Furby pal

Today at SF Tech Week, over 200 builders are reviving vintage toys with real voices at our hardware hackathon. 🧸🎙️

All turned into voice agents powered by @AssemblyAI 's speech models.

Can't wait to see what you all build. 8 hours to go !!

Heatwave in SF and our customers are on the menu 🍦

This SF Tech Week we wanted to thank the teams building on AssemblyAI—so we named an ice cream flavor after six of them!

Today we're driving around SF giving the ice cream away for free.

24 hours until this little guy gets a voice.

Tomorrow night at SF Tech Week, the AssemblyAl team and @iHarnoorSingh are hosting 60 builders for a hardware hackathon!!

No hardware experience needed. Bring a laptop, a USB-C cable, and your favorite coding agent, and you'll walk out with your very own travel buddy that actually talks back.

Oh, and the hackathon winner takes home an authentic, unopened vintage Furby T. Yes, really and up to $500 in credits to be won!!

Seats are super limited, so grab yours here👇 x.com/iHarnoorSingh/…

@AssemblyAI new model, Universal 3.6 Pro is live on Vapi.

Most voice agent failures start at transcription. 3.6 Pro makes 45% fewer wrong yes/no confirmations, cuts background speech in transcripts by 30%, and holds the turn until it has the full phone number, code, or email. Plus 14 new languages with mid-sentence code-switching.

Switch your agents in the dashboard: dashboard.vapi.ai

We crossing 1M+ developers worldwide!!

We think about our Voice Infrastructure in 3 buckets:

1. Frontier Voice Research
Voice models trained on real-world data, with feedback from developers building actual products.

2. Voice Inference at Scale
Hundreds of millions of API calls, optimized for latency, reliability, and cost. Serverless, with no concurrency or rate limits.

3. API Platform
Dozens of APIs and capabilities developers can combine like LEGO blocks to build voice agents and apps.

Voice is becoming a core interface for both software and hardware.

Soon, you might genuinely be talking to your toaster. 😄

London Voice AI Hackathon was so much fun with our host @iHarnoorSingh 🎙️🇬🇧

In 15 minutes:
— A full dictation app, built in 10 minutes
— Voice-automated form filling, ~5x faster than typing
— Live translation apps across 19 languages

Huge thanks to everyone who built with us tonight. See you at the next one 👋

Yesterday we launched Universal-3.6 Pro Realtime.

Follow along as @iHarnoorSingh runs 3.6 Pro Realtime through real voice agent situations: short answers, noisy backgrounds, and mid-call language switches.

See how it stacks up against the competition and read more about the model: assemblyai.com/blog/universal…

Universal 3.6 Pro Realtime is live today. Two independent benchmarks put every streaming speech model through the same audio, on the same harness. Universal-3.6 Pro Realtime leads both.

@trydaily's Pipecat open STT benchmark: Universal-3.6 Pro Realtime sits on the Pareto frontier.
@covaldev's live leaderboard: lowest word error rate of any streaming model on real voice-agent audio.

Voice agents get tested on the turns other benchmarks skip. That's where 3.6 Pro is built to hold:

→ Short answers. "No." "Nah." "Nuh-uh." Heard right 98.5% of the time, in loud rooms and on phone lines, not just quiet calls.
→ Background voices. The TV, the coworker, the next desk stay out of the transcript.
→ Languages. 32 from one endpoint with automatic detection. Callers switch languages mid-sentence and the transcript follows. Most agents can skip the language menu.
→ Turns. Entity-aware endpointing ends the turn when the caller is done, and holds it open while they're still reading out a phone number.

Trained on tens of thousands of hours of real voice-agent and telephony conversations. Link in the comments. 👇

The fastest way to get text into a computer is to talk.If your product has a text field, it has somewhere for dictation to go.

Thursday in SF, @iHarnoorSingh shows you how to put it there in about 30 lines of Python.

Blurt: push‑to‑talk dictation on the AssemblyAI Dictation API

The Dictation API converts a spoken clip into finished text. Filler words and false starts are removed, and the output can be formatted as notes, a commit message, or a reply to a customer.

Built on Universal‑3.5 Pro, it supports 19 languages, processes short clips in under a second, and costs $0.62/hr.

Fingers can't type as fast as your brain moves?

That's why the little mic icon is showing up everywhere: notes apps, email, CRMs, coding tools, patient charts. People talk, the app writes it down.

On Sept 24 @iHarnoorSingh is showing SF how to build that feature with our Dictation API.

Dear developers,

Forms are broken.

Questions across multiple pages and endless fields. A slow, painful experience.

What if we could answer everything… with a single voice prompt?

With dictation, users can input text up to 3× faster.

That's why, we’ve launched our Dictation API:
assemblyai.com/dashboard/play…

"um so like can you send me the uh the Q3 numbers" is what the mic heard.
"Can you send me the Q3 numbers?" is what the person meant.

@iHarnoorSingh walks through the Dictation API playground showing the gap close. Add your key terms, hold to record, read what comes back.

Two things worth watching:

The key terms field. Type in the vocabulary your users actually say (drug names, SKUs, your own product names) and those words come back spelled right instead of phonetically close. That's the part most dictation projects die on.

The turnaround. Typical short clips come back in under a second, on Universal-3.5 Pro, across 19 languages..

Bring your own audio and throw the words your users get wrong at it 👇
